A Red Day Dress

DSC00949_2

dress by Madewell, Nixon watch, unknown wristlet, Stuart Weitzman sandals

I just bought this red silk dress, I have been wanting a loose, easy-fit dress and this one works. Something I can wear very casually, though here I am wearing it with heels. The print is small cream flowers. Enjoy your weekend, my friends!

New Handbag, with Tortoiseshell

Milly handbag, Trouve blouse, Nixon watch, pants from LOFT, Loeffler Randall shoes

Back to the blog! Sorry my friends, I dropped my camera and it took me months to get it fixed. But it's summer, and there are all kinds of outfits I'd like to share, so thanks for hanging in there with me.

I'm getting a little matchy-matchy here: the color of the shoes shows up in the print of my shirt, my tortoiseshell watch matches the tortoiseshell in my handbag strap, even the color of my handbag matches my pedicure color (OPI On Collins Ave). But it all feels very fresh to me.

The blouse I just got at Nordstrom with a giftcard (thanks Mom!) and the handbag also came from there, in case you were wondering.

Goodbye Winter

DSC01369_2

Club Monaco Sage top (on sale for $29!), J. Crew Factory perfect fit corduroy pants (from eBay), necklace from Etsy, Franco Sarto wedges

Here in the middle of the country, things are warming up. I'm about to bring down all my spring/summer clothes from the attic and pack away fall/winter. I've switched out my nail polish colors already. Pale colors and corals, here I come!

Vibrant Magenta

DSC01333

blouse by Missoni for Target, sweater from Anthropologie, pants from Banana Republic, Cole Haan pumps

Surprise! I'm back! I know it's been a while, but can you blame me: until we changed the clocks, it's been dark in the mornings, and too cold outside for outfit posts. And many days, I think: Blogging? Ain't nobody got time for that!

Today's outfit is all clothes you've seen before, no new pieces to show.

Spiritually, I have been thinking about humility, accountability, discipline, and priorities. Does it matter what priorities you say you have, when you don't have the discipline to put those important things into action? Spending time with God, serving the needy, and taking care of my body and spirit are all priorities that require more than lip service. Who is holding me accountable to my priorities? And when I don't spend my time like I should, do I have the humility to tell my friends I need help?

Wearing Red with Green

olive green military jacket from Lulus.com, red ribbed turtleneck by Lauren Ralph Lauren, Joe's Jeans,  olive Rosegold suede booties

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, my friends! Among many other items, I received this red turtleneck from my husband, and a bunch of Sephora OPI nail polishes, to be featured later on the blog.

I finally got an oversized military jacket, and it may be at the end of the trend, but I look forward to wearing it as a casual coat. All of my other coats are dressier.

Target x Neiman Marcus collection: Proenza Schouler sweatshirt, skinny cargo pants by Blank Denim, Sam Edelman camo flats, Nixon watch, OPI Rudolph Red nail polish

Here's my review of the Target x Neiman Marcus collaboration which released Saturday!

I had my eye on only a few pieces, all clothing of course! Overall I wish there was more clothing and shoes in this collection and not so many gifty-type items, like dog leashes and lunch boxes.

First I tried on the Robert Rodriguez sleevless blouse. I loved it on the hanger, it was weighty, with lots of beautiful layers of fabric and ruffles. It was high quality for Target. But on me, it made me look huge and thick. So back to the rack it went.

Then the Lela Rose blouse. I almost bought it. You have to size up, though, there is no stretch to the fabric. It is very pretty and flattering.

Finally I tried on this sweatshirt. I didn't like it on the hanger, but it is very cosy on. And let's face it, I don't have very many sweatshirts,  they are too casual for my style. But this was just interesting and arty enough for me! I sized up to Medium to get a looser fit.

Did you get anything, my friends? Do tell!
