tomcat named Oliver, black button-up by Calvin Klein, military skirt from Anthropologie, Calvin Klein black suede booties, OPI Rudolph Red nail polish
The only fur I wear is the kind that sticks to my dark clothing! In this case, the stray cat we took in likes to shed a lot. I don't mind. I do mind that this photo was taken before lipstick was put on! I bought Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick this weekend with some gift cards I have received. The color is Cambon, a very bright red. Look for it in future posts!
long camel cardigan by Rampage, white long-sleeve tee by Splendid, cream pants by Kenneth Cole Reaction, Franco Sarto almond wedges, mother-of-pearl bib necklace from Calvin Klein outlet (worn wrong-side up), OPI Rudolph Red nail polish
Loving a simple monochromatic look today! Have a great weekend!
OK, I know I just wore this outfit last week and posted it on my blog. It seemed kinda boring at the time, but I thought the colors went together well. Then I saw shots from DKNY's runway show for Fall/Winter 2011, and I saw what I was missing! Add a black shirt under the shrunken red sweater! There. Much better. Click for a close-up!
yellow cable-knit sweater from Rugby Ralph Lauren, black pants from LOFT, Circa Joan & David low black patent heels, OPI Dusk Over Cairo nail polish
I can't wait much longer for Spring! Here at least the sun is out and so is my sunny sweater. One of the things I love about this preppy sweater are the functional gold buttons on the sleeves. They have skulls-and-crossbones on them! Click for larger photos!
black jersey wrap dress by Isabella Oliver, shoes from White House Black Market
Check out this beautiful and flattering black jersey dress from Isabella Oliver! I won it in a giveaway over at Intolerably Chic, and it arrived just in time for me to wear it to dinner on Valentine's Day. It is perfect for this time of year with the 3/4 sleeves, and was very comfortable to wear. Click for larger photos!
tan striped button-up by Nine West, striped brown pants by BCBGMaxAzria, Circa Joan & David brown patent low heels, Sydney Evan bracelet
With all these vertical stripes, I should look three inches taller! Back to neutrals today, mixing wool, cotton, beads, and diamonds. Click for larger photos!
green-grey knit blazer by XCVI, purple sweater by Charter Club, skirt from LOFT, Circa Joan & David patent low heels, Botkier handbag
The unmatching, low-contrast pairup of this skirt and blazer make it just unusual enough to work. Touches of black and purple hold it together on a windy summer day. Well, it's February but it feels like summer outside! Click for larger photos!
Revlon Perplex nail polish, ruffled tank from Nordstroms, wrap cardigan by Splendid
Hello my friends, and welcome to another Dressing to Match my Nail Polish post. I can't help it. I put on a new polish and I want to coordinate with it! This polish is a dupe for Fall 2010's Chanel Paradoxal. It has the flat color of a taupe, but it is a dusty greyish purple. This is two coats topped with Seche Vite top coat. And it matches my Splendid cardi perfectly. Click for larger photos!
olive skirt from Anthropologie, olive turtleneck by Vince, camel sweater from Banana Republic, Rosegold suede booties, Deathstar Debris necklace by Deka Ray
Like Han Solo said, "I've got a bad feeling about this." I see many other people wearing skirts and booties with bare legs in between, and it seems to work. But I'm just not sure about how I'm wearing it. To work. I feel odd about not wearing tights to connect the skirt and footwear. What do you think, my friends?
bright red shirt from Timeless Authentic Garments (St. Louis), paper bag pants from Madewell, V Italia brown leather boots, OPI 20 Candles On My Cake nail polish, black onyx heart necklace from Tiffany & Co.
I was inspired by The Concrete Catwalk's post a couple of weeks ago to add some bright reds to my wardrobe, and some day I will pair this vintage top with some bright pinks and/or oranges. Until then, enjoy it paired with caramel brown pants. I have some nail polish I'd like to try with this top, OPI's On Collins Ave. I think it will be smashing, my friends!
pink button-up from Express, grey pants from LOFT, grey Fitzwell pumps
I love a good empire waisted shirt! This one from Express was handed down to me, so I'm not sure how old it is, but I've had it for at least four years. It is the only button-up I have that doesn't gap between the buttons. :) It has an especially long tie-belt, it wraps around me twice. Please excuse the lack of lipstick (and nail polish, I'm giving my nails a little break since they're giving me little breaks.) So happy to be wearing pink! And the sun is out!
little black sweater, unknown, maroon button-up by Calvin Klein, paper-bag pants from Madewell, black patent heels by Via Spiga (not pictured!)
gratituous Burberry coat shot
Sorry I don't have any full-length photos! They came out very blurry. Anyways, this cropped sweater is something I forget I have. I purchased it to wear over an evening dress, but it works great with high-waisted pants! Click for larger photos.
Burberry Brit quilted coat, white tuxedo shirt by To The Max, black pants from LOFT, Circa Joan & David riding boots
I have been on the hunt for a puffer-style Burberry coat since October, which is when I started saving for it. I had two requirements: I would not pay full-price, and I had to completely love it. Burberry makes many different styles of quilted coats. I tried them on in the store. I stalked a few favorite styles on the internet. I even bought one when it went on sale online, only to have to send it back because I didn’t love it. Honestly, I had recently given up. I thought it was too late in the season. So when I went into Nordstroms last weekend, I almost forgot to go by their coat section to see what they had.
I’m glad I didn’t forget! This beautiful quilted coat was just what I was looking for: black, belted, and flattering on me. On top of that, it was 50% off, and was the only one in the store. It has an asymmetrical zipper and a motorcycle-style collar, with double pockets. I’ve never had a puffer coat and I love its urban vibe. What do you think, my friends?
red wool sweater from Rugby Ralph Lauren, camel pants from LOFT, Sperry Top-Sider boots, OPI Red-y To Strike! nail polish
Here's my new red sweater, just in time for Valentine's Day. It's on sale over at the Rugby web site, and it runs small, this is a Medium. So happy to have some color in my wardrobe, I love wearing red, but don't have a lot of it right now. Click for a closeup!
pink cashmere sweater from J. Crew, grey corduroy pants from Victoria's Secret, grey leopard silk scarf from Express, grey rain boots by Aquatalia by Marvin K., Zoya Kalista nail polish
A very overcast day does not lend itself to good outfit photos! I am starting to break out the pinks for early spring. Click for a closer look!
long open-knit sweater by DKNY Jeans, skinny cargos by Blank Denim, Rosegold olive suede booties
Here's a weekend outfit with an old sweater that I love. This is the kind of sweater that a lot of girls would belt, but I just can't do it (see this post). It was a cozy outfit perfect for running errands and being around the house. Click for larger photos.
